the upbringing: A Fusion of Traditions

Growing up, I was immersed in a variety of diverse healing modalities that shaped my understanding of the spiritual and physical realms. Coming from a family where healing and connecting to spirit was deeply ingrained, I learned valuable lessons from both sides of my heritage.

From my mother's side, I inherited a profound belief in the power of energy healing and an unwavering faith in the higher power. As a young child I was introduced to a Filipino form of energy healing called "Hilot," a practice that emphasizes the connection between the physical body and the energy flowing within. As a child when people in my family were sick, they would often go to my grandma for Hilot (energy healings) to help cure ailments such as colds, headaches, etc. My grandma and mother both practiced this traditional modality which became a guiding light in understanding the intricate dance between spiritual energy and our physical well-being.

My great-grandpa a working Japanese man during WWII had difficulties finding work due to his ethnicity, aside from a small fur retail shop. From there he decided to start his own fur and leather company ‘Winnipeg Trading Post’, which grew into more than he would’ve ever imagined. As the materials were used in a lot of Indigenous arts and crafted good, the Indigenous community asked him to expand his retail selection throughout the years, as well as hire and work with local Indigenous artists. When he passed in 2004, my family and I inherited the business and wanted to honour him by keeping the business alive. Throughout my life, my family and I immersed ourselves in the culture to educate ourselves and learn how to best serve the community. We attended pow wows, met with elders, attended a sweat lodge and I even received my spirit name. Learning about all of the healing herb properties, herbs used in smudging ceremonies, and ways to communicate with and honour the universe are practices that I continue to utilize today.

The Pivot: the eye opening

A pivotal period in my life happened in 2008 when my grandpa was diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal cancer, a golf ball sized tumour wreaking havoc in his brain. At this time of my life I lived with my grandparents and this was something I could not comprehend. His case was so rare he was invited to Universities to be studied my doctors from across Canada. He underwent 33 rounds of chemotherapy which had no effect on treating the tumour. By this time it was March of the following year, and he was told he would at most have to the end of summer to live. Having a mother still living, in the Philippines, he knew he needed to visit her for likely the last time before returning back to Canada to pass. At this point he had become so weak from the treatments and progression of the cancer, that he could no longer walk, was fed through a feeding tube, and slept most of the day.

When he made it to the Philippines, my great-grandma greeted him with a group of energy healers and at this point being open to anything, my grandpa allowed them to energy heal for them. This community of healers collectively worked on energy healing him for 8 hours a day for 7 days straight, sun up to sun down the entire week. By the 4th day, he was no longer feeding from the tube, by the 7th day he was able to walk around the house, and 2 weeks after the healings ended he was able to drive again.

By the time he returned back to Canada at the end of the summer, his doctors told him the tumour was no longer there. In disbelief, the doctor said to him ‘I don’t know what you did on your trip, or if I’m medically allowed to advise you to continue, but whatever you’re doing, it’s working.” 15 years later he is still alive and his journey through this is what really pivoted my way of thinking, which truly opened my eyes to the power of energy.

These teachings laid the foundation for my spiritual journey.

The awakening: deep surrendering

My upbringing really laid the groundwork of my spiritual journey, however what really sparked my awakening and path to the Akashic Records was my own journey of heartbreak and major life changes. As the world basically shut down in 2020, as many of us did, I went through a time of deep reflection in all areas of my life. My career, my relationship, my living situation, my health, all of it- and realized that for years I really had been living in misalignment, in contentment, and definitely felt unfulfilled. Despite accomplishing what I was told to do, get a degree, my CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant), a “big girl job” at a Big-4 accounting firm, started looking at homes in the nice area of town and stayed in a long term relationship that was no longer serving me, I myself was not happy.

But how could this be? I did everything that on paper, that was supposed to make me happy, however I truly wasn’t. I ended up ending a 12 year relationship and moved across the country to live alone for the first time in my life. Leaving my hometown, my best friends, my family, and everything that felt like home. It was scary, lonely and confusing.

This left me heart broken, for two years I mourned the life I thought I would have, while learning how to mend my heart and take one step at a time toward my future. During this time of deep transformation, I sought out energy healers, shamans, theta healers and Akashic Record Readers to help me through this journey. They channelled beautiful information and provided guidance, direction, and courage to keep going. Most importantly they helped me understand myself on a soul level.

As I started to heal and mend my heart (with the help of these amazing healers) I became curious to learn more and dive deeper into understanding these healing modalities. I started with taking a Crystal Healing Course, which then led me to an Intuitive Development Course, two Akashic Record Reading courses (from different practitioners), an Energy Healing course, and a Sacred Shamanic Energy Healing course. Throughout these courses we would practice with each other and I quickly started to understand that I have a gift to share and that I too could help others just as I was helped throughout my journey. This is what has led me here today, I am so grateful to be able to do something I love and to be able to connect with such beautiful souls.
